Our 07 Day Mardi Himal Trek starts from the trailhead at Kande, which is reached via a short drive from Pokhara. On the first day, we will make the short climb up to Australian Camp and already get to enjoy some superb mountain views. The next couple of days consists of a quiet walk along the serene forested trails through Forest Camp, Low Camp and Badal Danda up to High Camp.
The fourth day of the trek will be a fairly tough one as we make the climb up to the Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,450m). We will pass through Upper View Point (4,200m), and trek for a couple more hours to reach the base camp, both of which offers some fantastic views of mountain vistas.
Our return journey will be much easier as most of the remaining journey will be downhill trekking. We will stop for a day at the village of Sidhing, situated away from the hustle and bustle of the major trails. We will also possibly have a free day in Pokhara, which opens up a lot of possibilities for exploration and further traver lling. The Mardi Himal Trek will finally be completed as we make the return journey to Kathmandu.

Mardi Himal Trek is a moderate difficulty trek that takes you up to altitudes of 4,450m (Mardi Base Camp). The trek mostly involves trekking on hilly trails for 5-6 hours a day. This is a short, week long trek that can be performed by people with no trekking experience as well, as long as they are physically fit.
Mardi Himal Trek can be performed all year long. The spring (March – May) and autumn (September – November) are generally regarded as the best periods for the trek as they have offer the best views with clear skies and stable weather.
Winter trekking is a good option for those who wish to enjoy the best mountain views with extra snowfall. However, the temperature can drop below zero and lodges can sometimes remain closed because of this. We advise being properly prepared if you are thinking of trekking during winter.
Monsoon trekking is possible but not recommended. Monsoon is the off season for trekking, and for good reason. The weather tends to be unpredictable during this period and cloudy skies means subpar views as well. The trails can also become dangerous due to the rainfall.
During the Mardi Himal Trek, accommodations primarily consist of teahouses along the trail. These teahouses offer basic yet comfortable rooms with shared bathrooms. You can expect simple and hearty meals served at the teahouses, providing a cozy place to rest and recharge amidst the beautiful mountain surroundings.

It's important to pack light but adequately for changing weather conditions and varying altitudes encountered during the trek.

Our journey will begin early in the morning as this is a busy first day. The journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara can be made via flight, local transport or private vehicle. We will go with the latter option and drive through the Prithivi Highway for 5-6 hours before we eventually arrive at Pokhara. We will have to make another 45 min drive from Pokhara to reach the trailhead at Kande.
Finally, our trek will begin as we begin the climb to Australian Camp. After an hour or so, the forested trail will open into a clearing and we will be at our destination. Even on the first day of the trek, we will get to enjoy superb views of Annapurna and Machhapuchhare.

Today, we will begin our real trek as we head to Forest Camp. The trail takes you through pleasant forests of pine and rhododendron, whose beauty is further enhanced by the various shimmering peaks in the backdrop.

As usual, we will begin our trek after some warm breakfast at our lodge. We will pass through Low camp, situated at 3,000 meters while enjoying good views of Fishtail, Hiunchuli, Mardi and Annapurna South Peaks. Eventually, we will also pass Badal Danda and reach high camp after 6-7 hours of total trekking.

This is the major day of the trek. The trail leads you through quiet forests and cool hillsides to the Upper View Point (4,200m), which provides superb views of the whole Annapurna range. We will have to further for a couple of hours to reach the Base Camp. For our efforts, we will be treated to magnificent views of Annapurna, Gangapurna, Fishtail and of course, Mardi Himal. The view of these towering peaks from the ridge above the clouds will be a sight to remember. We will head back to the High Camp after a while for overnight stay at the lodge.

We will make the easy downhill descent from High Camp to Sidhing today. Sidhing is a quaint little village, located away from the bustle of the main trails. It offers a peaceful and refreshing stay for travelers.

The trek is now complete, which means we will have a free day at our hands today. First, we will have a 3 hour or so drive via a private vehicle or local transport from Sidhing to Pokhara. Afterwards, we can either make the return journey to Kathmandu, save it for the next day or simply end our journey in Pokhara. Both flights as well as land transport (public and private) are available from Pokhara to Kathmandu and back. Instead, if you decide to spend the day in Pokhara, there are a lot of interesting places to visit such as Phewa Lake and the lakeside, Davis Falls, World Peace Pagoda, Tal Barahi Temple, Gupteshwor Mahadev Temple and Cave etc.
