Kathmandu Nagarkot Tour is the ideal choice for people who want to experience the natural beauty and cultural diversity of Nepal in the shortest amount of time.
Kathmandu Nagarkot Tour first explores the major cultural and religious sites throughout the capital. The origin of life in the valley dates back to thousands of years, and also has various fascinating myths surrounding it. In all these years, the capital has accumulated immense amounts of culture and history behind it.
As part of our tour, we will explore all of this, starting with Pashupatinath. Situated beside the holy Bagmati River, Pashupatinath is one of the oldest and most sacred Hindu temples in Nepal, as well as the world in general. It attracts hundreds of thousands of devotees every year, particularly during the festive occasions of Shivaratri and Teej. Boudhanath, which is one of the largest stupas in the world, carries similar religious and cultural significance for Buddhists. Swayambhunath is a hilltop stupa complex with a mixture of both Hindu and Buddhist cultures and architecture. It is another important landmark with historical and mythical ties to the start of life in the valley itself.
On the second day of the Kathmandu Nagarkot Tour, we will explore Bhaktapur, a medieval city located east of Kathmandu. The Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the National Art Gallery, Bhairavnath Temple, 55-window palace, Nyatapola temple etc. are some of the major points of interest here. Our second destination for the day will be Changunarayan, which is the oldest temple in Kathmandu, and possibly in Nepal as well. Finally, we will have a 2 to 3 hour drive to the scenic hill station at Nagarkot.
Situated roughly 30km from central Kathmandu, Nagarkot is very popular among local as well as international tourists for the magnificent sunrise and sunset views it offers. On a clear day, you’ll get to enjoy a panorama of Everest, Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal, Numbur and more!

The Kathmandu Nagarkot Tour can be performed all year long as the season isn’t a major issue for the trek. However, some periods are certainly better than other depending on your preferences. Spring (March – May) and Autumn (September – November) are generally recommended as the best periods since the weather is the most stable during these periods with the clearest views as well.
Unlike treks, this tour can be performed during the off season as well. Winter can be hit and miss as the days are generally hazy but a clear day can provide unmatched views of the mountains. Monsoon touring is possible but not recommended as the unstable weather and downpour can lead to mediocre views and a below par experience compared to other seasons.
Travelling on the 3 Day Kathmandu Nagarkot is mostly done through vehicles, with the occasional walk. The tour is also done at altitudes of 2,000 meters and below which means there is no possibility of altitude sickness. Thus, this trip can be performed by most people regardless of age and experience. Only minimal fitness is required for this tour.
Day 01: Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Once we’ve clicked some customary pictures here, we will have an hour long drive to the south side of the capital. Our destination this time is the hilltop stupa complex of Swayambhunath. Also known as the monkey temple, this millennia old complex is home to a variety of Hindu and Buddhist shrines. Swayambhunath has historical ties as well as various myths connecting its origin to the start of life in the valley itself.
As long as time permits, we will spend the rest of the afternoon at the old palace of Kathmandu, the Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square. For the evening, you can stroll around the vibrant streets of Thamel. We can have our dinner at a nearby restaurant or simply head back to the hotel.
