Trekking in Nepal offers you the opportunity to experience the stunning panorama of towering peaks, untouched culture and genuine hospitality of Nepalese people as well as the raw natural beauty and diversity like nothing else. Known as a ‘trekker’s paradise’, Nepal has at least one good trek for everyone. Trek around the world’s highest peak in the Everest region, enjoy short but scenic treks in Annapurna, experience the culture and lifestyle of the locals in Langtang or simply feel the thrill of adventuring through the raw wilderness in Nepal’s remote reaches!
Nepal is a country immensely blessed in terms of natural beauty and diversity. The nation covers altitudes lower than 100 meters in the Terai lowlands to the highest point on Earth at the Everest summit (8,848m). Thanks to this huge range of altitude, there is a lot of diversity in terms of geography, flora and fauna as well as the people and their culture and lifestyle. The vast plains and forests of Terai are best suited for wildlife to foster, which means tours and jungle safari are fantastic here, but trekking not so much. On the other hand, the mid hills and mountain regions are perfect for trekking, mountaineering and other activities.
If your reason for trekking is mostly to admire the captivating scenery and unique culture of the locals, then the Annapurna and Langtang regions are perfect for you. They have a variety of options like the Ghorepani Poonhill, Annapurna Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit and Langtang treks which are mostly easy/moderate in terms of difficulty. On the other hand, if you wish to experience the pristine nature and wilderness, then we offer treks in the Manaslu, Mustang as well as other wilderness regions for that purpose. Finally, for those who have some experience and wish to trek around the world’s highest peaks, the Everest region is the perfect option.
Hoshizora Treks & Tour aims to provide you with all the necessary information as well as useful facts and tips so that you have utmost enjoyment during your stay in Nepal. Before trekking in Nepal, there are some important things you should take into consideration.
Starting with the seasons, the time of year is something you should thing about when trekking in Nepal. The spring (March - May) and autumn (September - November) seasons are the peak seasons due to their stable weather and clear views. Winter trekking is mostly open as well but the low temperature can be an issue for some and the high altitude passes can sometimes get blocked off due to extra snowfall. Monsoon trekking is possible in certain regions like Mustang, but apart from that, it is not a good idea due to the unpredictable rainfall that can potentially make the hilly trails dangerous.
Another thing to consider is permits. Apart from a Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) card, you may require a National Park entry permit, Restricted Area Permit, Conservation Area Permit or Climbing Permits for Trekking Peaks depending on the region and trek you’re on.
Finally, Acute Mountain Sickess (AMS) or altitude sickness is a possibility on the higher altitude treks. Do not ignore its symptoms and remember to listen to your body, stay adequately hydrated and carry some emergency medicine with you during the treks.
