Lobuche East Peak Climbing journey begins with a flight to Lukla, and follows the route of the standard Everest Base Camp Trek. The trail passes through Phakding, Namche, Tengboche, Dingboche and Lobuche and some other Sherpa villages. This provides you with the chance to interact with locals, spend time in their villages and get a genuine experience of the ancient culture and lifestyle of the Sherpas in this harsh environment.

After we reach Lobuche, we will set aside a few days for side trips. The journey to Gorak Shep, followed by hikes to Everest Base Camp and Kala Pattar will serve various purposes for us. Not only are they two must-see destinations in the Everest regions, the trip also helps out a lot with acclimatization.

Following the trek there, we will make a return journey to Lobuche. From Lobuche, the peak climbing starts as you trek past the Lobuche Glacier and base camp and eventually reach the High camp. On summit day, we will start our climb as early as 1-2 AM and be done with it by mid-day. Enjoy the unforgettable view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Pumori, Pokalde and more from the top.

The rest of the journey consists of mostly descending and making the return trek up to Lukla. A scenic half hour flight will have us back at Kathmandu in no time. You’ll have a leisure day to spend as you wish in the capital. The 19 Day Lobuche East Peak Climbing trip has concluded now, and ends with your departure the next day.

Lobuche East Peak Climbing Difficulty

As a peak climbing trip, Lobuche East Peak Climbing is much harder than your average trek. It is graded as a strenuous difficulty trek with max altitudes of over 6000 meters. The average day on the trail consists of 5 to 6 hours of trekking on rocky and hilly trails between 3-5,000 meters. Good physical fitness is very important for this trek. On the other hand, Lobuche East can be climbed without prior mountaineering experience or technical climbing skills.

Hoshizora Treks & Tour offers custom itinerary for the Lobuche East Peak Climbing along with other treks in the region like Mt. Everest Climbing, Island Peak Climbing, Mera Peak Climbing, Annapurna South Climbing and more.

Best Season for Lobuche East Peak Climbing

Lobuche East Peak Climbing is best performed during the spring (March – May) and autumn (September – November) seasons. These seasons are the peak times for tourism and trekking in Nepal. The clear views and pleasant weather make for an excellent experience.

If you don’t want to deal with crowds and hustle-bustle of the peak seasons, winter is also a good time for off season trekking. There is an obvious catch though, which is that winter trekking is more difficult due to lower temperatures and extra snowfall. If you are prepared to tackle these issues, winter trekking might can be called best option as it offers the enhanced views of peaks throughout the region.

Monsoon trekking can be done, but we generally don’t recommend it as the season is known to have the unstable weather with random rainfall. This can not only lead to the views being subpar, but it may also make the trek dangerous.

Trekking at high altitudes means we are at risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Altitude sickness is normally observed when above 3000 meters, and the possibility increases the higher you climb. As we still have a lot more altitude to gain, it is best to take a day off right now to help our bodies acclimatize. Namche is a modern settlement equipped to host thousands of trekkers and travelers. You can visit its Internet cafes, restaurants and bakeries if you are spending the day here. Day hikes to nearby Everest View hotel or Khumjung village are also good options.

Trekking peaks are fairly easy to climb compared to expedition peaks and normally don’t require use of technical climbing skills. With that said, it is a good idea to be acquainted with them nonetheless.

Our cooks will prepare some warm coffee and breakfast for us to energize us for the tough climb. Then, we will steadily make our way up the peak. As we gain altitude, the rocky surface will transition into mostly snow and ice. Some equipment use might be necessary depending on the situation. After another grueling hour or two of ascending, we will finally arrive at the top. Witness your efforts bear fruit as you are treated to a breathtaking view comprising of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Pumori and various other peaks. We can’t stay too long here as the afternoon welcomes strong winds that can make our descent tough and perilous. After some time at the top, we will carefully begin our descent.
