Kathmandu Lumbini Tour is the perfect tour in Nepal for history and culture enthusiasts. This short and easy 04 day tour takes you across the numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu, followed by the trip to the religious site at Lumbini.

Our Kathmandu Lumbini Tour begins in Kathmandu, which in addition to being the capital of Nepal, is also the nation’s historical and cultural center. As we can only explore so much in a single day, our tour will take us to the major UNESCO World Heritage sites of Kathmandu. Pashupatinath is one of the holiest Hindu temple that attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every year, particularly during the festive occasions of Teej and Shivaratri. Boudhanath, one of the largest stupas in the world, also holds immense cultural and religious significance for Buddhists. Swayambhunath is a hill top stupa complex, whose origin is tied to the origin of life in the valley itself by history as well as myths. The Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur Durbar are the old palaces of the capital and they serve as amazing examples of old Nepali architecture to this day.

As amazing as Kathmandu is, the real highlight of the Kathmandu Lumbini Tour comes next in Lumbini. Known as the birthplace of Gautama Buddha – the founder of Buddhism, Lumbini is a place with numerous historical and religious landmarks. From the Maya Devi Temple and Ashoka pillar to the Bodhi Tree and Tilaurkot palace, the attractions here are ancient with lots of history behind them. Add to that the numerous monasteries that have been built in collaboration with Japan, China, Thailand and various other countries, the environment is notably unique here. Lumbini holds its place as one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites across the world. Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama or Shakyamuni, was born here as a prince around 4th century BCE. As the story goes, the prince ran away from his life of comfort seeking the answers to the questions of life and suffering. After years of meditation, he finally found the answers and became the Buddha, which means an enlightened one. His teachings are what led to modern day Buddhism.
