The Best of Nepal Tour takes you through the 4 major touristic cities of Nepal, starting with Kathmandu. The origin of life in the valley dates back to thousands of years, and also has various fascinating myths surrounding it. In all these years, the capital has accumulated immense amounts of culture and history behind it. We will explore all of these during our stay in Kathmandu by visiting Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar and more.

The second part of our tour will be in Pokhara, which we will reach via a full day of driving from Kathmandu. Pokhara, more or less, is the center of tourism in Nepal thanks to the captivating natural beauty. Our tour in the lakeside city starts with a pre-dawn drive to Sarangkot, followed by a visit to various popular locations throughout the city including World Peace Pagoda. Davis Falls, Mahendra Cave, Tal Barahi temple, Gupteshwor Mahadev Temple/Caves and more.

Next, we will head to Chitwan where the exhilarating jungle safari experience will be awaiting us. The jungle safari lets you encounter various rare species of birds and animals including one horned rhinos, gharials, tigers, leopards, dolphins, peacocks and many more. Best of Nepal Tour Best Season

The Best of Nepal Tour can be performed all year long as the season isn’t a major issue for the trek. However, some periods are certainly better than other depending on your preferences. Spring (March – May) and Autumn (September – November) are generally recommended as the best periods since the weather is the most stable during these periods with the clearest views as well.

Unlike treks, this tour can be performed during the off season as well. Winter is a good time for those who wish to enjoy the best mountain views from Sarangkot. Monsoon is the best option for those looking to visit when the nature is in full bloom and the forests of Chitwan offer the best experience.

Best of Nepal Tour Trip Difficulty

Travelling on the 8 Day Best of Nepal Tour is mostly done through vehicles, with the occasional walk. The tour is also done at altitudes below 2,000 meters which means there is no possibility of altitude sickness. Thus, this trip can be performed by most people regardless of age and experience. Only minimal fitness is required for this tour.

The 8 Day Best of Nepal Tour will begin once we pick you up from your hotel/designated meeting point. Our first destination will be the holy Hindu temple of Pashupatinath. We will get witness various rituals, morning prayers and possibly even funeral processions going on during our visit. Following our brief stay, we will move on to the Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath, which is only a short distance away by drive. Enjoy your breakfast at a nearby restaurant amidst the peaceful vibes.

Once we’ve clicked some customary pictures here, we will have an hour long drive to the south side of the capital. Our destination this time is the hilltop stupa complex of Swayambhunath. Also known as the monkey temple, this millennia old complex is home to a variety of Hindu and Buddhist shrines. Swayambhunath has historical ties as well as various myths connecting its origin to the start of life in the valley itself.

As long as time permits, we will spend the rest of the afternoon at the old palace of Kathmandu, the Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square. For the evening, you can stroll around the vibrant streets of Thamel. We can have our dinner at a nearby restaurant or simply head back to the hotel.

The drive to Pokhara typically takes around 6-7 hours to complete, regardless of whether we take a private vehicle or local transport from the capital. Our journey along the Prithivi highway will introduce us to the typical landscape and scenery of rural Nepal as we drive past winding roads, verdant hills and roaring rivers. We will reach Pokhara around the late afternoon. You may spend the rest of the day as you see fit. Try to rest early though as the tour will begin quite early tomorrow.

Our tour today starts early in the morning with a drive to the famous view point of Sarangkot. We will reach just in time to witness the glorious sight of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhare, Hiunchuli and much more, glistening in the golden rays of the sun. Take some time to fully savor this unforgettable view and click some memorable pictures as well. After a while, we will head back to our hotel for breakfast. Our plan for the rest of the day consists of exploring the various landmarks and attractions around Pokhara such as World Peace Pagoda. Once again, we will have a full day driving and transfer from the captivating lakeside city of Pokhara to the lush forests and vast plains of Chitwan. As we will arrive in Chitwan by the afternoon, there are various options to explore during your free time. We can arrange a guided tour through Tharu villages, or a rafting session can be a better option for the adventurous types.

We will start our tour with a visit to the elephant breeding center. While there, you can also take part in some elephant bathing. Bird watching, elephant bathing, rafting and tours may be fun but the crown for the most popular activity in the Chitwan National Park goes to the jungle safari. The jungle safari can be performed on foot, via a jeep or on elephant back. We will journey to the depths of the lush forests and grasslands of Chitwan. You’ll have a chance to encounter some of the rare wildlife of the region including the One-horned Rhinos, Bengali Tigers, Clouded Leopards, Bengal Florican, Spotted Eagles, Peacocks, Dolphins, Gharials and more.

Following the exciting jungle safari tour in Chitwan, we will now have another day of travelling. The drive from Chitwan to Lumbini will take us around 5-6 hours to complete. Lumbini is well known as the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. You can spend your leisure time exploring this sacred pilgrimage site on your own if you wish.

As usual, we will begin our tour after breakfast. The sites that we will have explore today have a lot of religious and cultural significance and date back as being thousands of years old. We will visit the sacred gardens, the Mayadevi temple as well as the historic Ashoka pillar, the Puskarini pond, the Bodhi tree and more. We will also head to Tilaurkot to explore the ruins of the ancient palace of Suddodha, Buddha’s father. Apart from these ancient structures, a lot of monasteries have also been constructed nearby with collaboration from Japan, China, Thailand and various other countries.

With the tour finally completed, we will have a morning flight back to the capital today. We will head to the airport after breakfast and enjoy aerial views of the Nepalese landscape for half an hour before we land at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu.
