Druk Path Trekking is one of the most popular trekking in Bhutan takes you through the hills and valleys between Paro and Thimphu. From refreshing glacial lakes to lush green hills and valleys to towering snowcapped peaks, there is so much to witness and experience on this trek.

Our 09 Days Druk Path Trekking Adventure begins in Paro, which is home to the Paro airport, the only International Airport in Bhutan. It is considered one of the most challenging airports to land in the world, so the experience is sure to be exhilarating. Our tour starts on the very first day with the chance to visit the Rinpung Dzong fortress. The second day is even better, as we will begin our trek and hike up to the famous Tiger’s Nest. Locally known as Paro Taktshang, it is a centuries old monastery/temple complex located beside the hills of Upper Paro. It is definitely a jaw dropping site that you will have a hard time finding anywhere else in the world. It also has important ties with Buddhist legend Padmashambhava.

For the next few days, we get to fully enjoy the trekking adventure from Paro to Thimpu, followed by the drive back to Paro. We will camp overnight at the lakes at Jimgeland Tsho and Simkota and enjoy breathtaking panoramas of some of the highest peaks in Bhutan during the day. Passing through the pleasant rhododendron and juniper forests, the occasional monasteries and the sparse yak herds is another enjoyable aspect of this journey. Overall, this will surely be an interesting few days for both new as well as experienced trekkers.

Our trek will be over at Thimpu, but not our journey. We are yet to explore Thimpu, or visit the Dochula pass which sports some of the finest panorama of the Bhutanese Himalayas. Furthermore, visiting the Punakha Dzong “Palace of Happiness” is one of the best parts of the trip. Eventually, our trip does come to an end as we catch the return flight from Paro airport.

Hoshizora Treks & Tour offers this Druk Path Trekking in addition to other tours and treks like Bhutan Cultural Tour. If you would like to make any modifications to our default itinerary or have any inquiries, please feel free to contact us. Bhutan Tour is also unique in the sense that only a limited number of travelers are allowed to visit in order to preserve its culture and environment. The cost may feel expensive at a glance, but this is because the Bhutanese Tourism Council has decreed that all services (Accommodation, Food, Transport, Visa Fee, Location Entry Fee etc.) must be managed by the tour operators themselves.

Final thing to consider for the Druk Path Trekking is the difficulty and best time. This is a moderate difficulty trek with some strenuous parts such as crossing the high passes. It can be performed by most people as long as they are physically fit. As for the best time, the tour is operated all year long but the spring (March - June) and autumn (September - November) are the best seasons in general.

Our trek starts today with a fairly easy 3 hour hike up to one of the best known places in Bhutan, the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Locally known as Paro Taktsang or Taktsang Gompa, this is a sacred site perched on a Cliffside in the upper Paro valley. It is also possible to drive up to the start of the hiking trail, with which the trekking time is reduced to only 1.5 hours. This century’s old monastery has important ties with Guru Padmasambhava, who is believed to have meditated here for three months in 8th century. After exploring this monastery/temple complex, we will hike downhill to a viewpoint for lunch. Finally, we will visit Kichu Lhakhang before heading back to our hotel.
