The Langtang Gosainkunda Trek explores both the untouched valley of Langtang and the pristine glacial lake of Gosainkunda through a carefully designed 15 day itinerary. As the trail is located only around 140km north of Kathmandu, it is one of the most accessible treks from the capital. The trek leads you through picturesque villages, lush forests, tranquil valleys and scenic trails and climbs all the way to the holy Gosainkunda (4460m). Gosainkunda is believed to be a holy lake and attracts thousands of pilgrims every year, especially during the auspicious full moons of May and August.

Another reason why the Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is so popular is the trail itself. The trail passes through numerous Tamang villages, which opens up the opportunity to closely experience the unique culture of the region. You will also witness views of Ganesh Himal, Gaurishankar, Langtang and Manaslu among various other peaks during the trek.

The trek begins with a drive from Kathmandu to the trailhead at Syabrubesi. You will hike via Lama Hotel and Langtang Village up to Kyanjin Gompa. After a day of exploration there, you will retrace your steps to Syabrubesi. During this first part of the trek, you will pass through parts of the Langtang National Park. This conservation area is home to thousands of species of plants and hundreds of rare animals including red pandas, clouded/snow leopards, assamese monkeys, musk deer, Himalayan monal, crimson pheasant, vultures and spotted eagles among many others. For the second part of the trek, you will hike up to Gosainkunda via Shin Gompa. Spend the afternoon at Gosaikunda and enjoy the scenery there before heading back to Dhunche over the next couple of days. The trek finally ends with a drive back to the capital.

After landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport, there you will meet our representative and transfer to your hotel. You can rest at your hotel after the flight or come visit our office if time permits.

After breakfast, we start a guided tour of historic places in Kathmandu. At first, we visit a Swayambhunath stupa known as Monkey temple from where we can see a panoramic view of Kathmandu. Then, visit Boudhanath stupa which is one of the biggest stupa in the world. At noon, you will have a meeting with your trekking guide and discuss the equipment needed for the trekking.

After morning breakfast, we drive to Syabrubesi for around 7-8 hours, which is the beginning stage for treks into the Langtang valley. The roads will be rough and uneven more often. On a clear morning, we can enjoy the stunning view of white snowcapped mountains like Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Mt. Annapurna and other minor peaks along the way. Our trek for the day will end with a descending into the small village of Syabrubesi.

We leave Syabrubesi after having breakfast and continue our journey. Moving forward through the camping area and crossing the suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi River. After crossing the bridge, we gradually move toward the Bamboo. The trails go through Oak, Rhododendron forests and a variety of wildlife. In the end, we climb up to Rimche and then to Lama Hotel.

We proceed with our adventure by pushing ahead to Langtang valley. We will cross various Mani dividers, Chortens and towns. As we reach Ghoda Tabela, we start to see snow-topped peaks of the Langtang Himal Range and continue our walk towards Ghodatabela. Following the trail across little towns and yak pastures, climbing uphill, crossing steams to the Langtang National Parks and we may see birds and other wild creatures along the way to reach the Tamang village of Langtang.

After breakfast, we leave Langtang Village. The trail begins through the village and rising towards the slopes of chorten. Then gradually climbing through the Buddhist mani wall, crossing small streams and continue walking. The trail leads to see Kyanjin Gompa and an amazing perspective on icefall flowing of Kyanjin Ri (5000 m) and Langtang Lirung (7246 m). After the short Trek, we will explore the Kyanjin Gompa area with stunning perspectives on the mountains.

Today, we walk to Tserko-Ri (5000m) and spend the entire day exploring the surrounding which will enable us to change per the high altitude. Moving uphill to the Tserko-Ri we can get an excellent perspective on Langtang Himal range. We climb back to Kyanjin Gompa by late evening and visit the yak cheese factory. We will get an opportunity to test cheese and curd.

We will begin our trek after having breakfast and enjoying the surrounding snow-capped mountains. Following the same trail follow to the Langtang Khola to reach Langtang and after that to Ghodatabela. After having lunch, we will proceed with our journey to Lama Hotel.

After having breakfast, we will hike back to Thulo syabru. The trail is mostly downhill through the Bamboo and Rhododendron forests. It is easier to walk down rather than going up. After crossing the suspension bridge, we gradually move toward the Thulo syabru.

After morning breakfast, we begin our walk moving uphill through Bamboo, oak, and Rhododendron forest. Then we will pass several villages to arrive sing Gompa also known as 'Chandan Bari'. Sing Gompa is also famous for its cheese.

Explore one of the major highlights of the trek today with the hike to Gosainkunda Lake. Along the trail, you will be able to enjoy views of Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and even Annapurna. After some hours of trekking on the sloppy trail, you’ll pass Sara Swati Kund and arrive at Gosainkunda. Spend the afternoon exploring the holy lake and relaxing in its premises. In the evening, head to the village on its northern side for overnight stay.

With our main goal accomplished, we will retrace our steps to Sing Gompa today. Visit the Shiva temple in the village for blessings before heading out on the trail. The descent might be rough on your knees, so use a supporting staff if necessary.

Today will be the last day of trekking as we continue descending from Sing Gompa, all the way down to Dhunche. The trail will be pleasant and scenic as usual.
