How to get there

This trek will begin from Pokhara and end there like other trekking routes in Annapurna except for the Annapurna circuit. Pokhara is 200 km west of Kathmandu city. Daily tourist buses run from Kathmandu to Pokhara takes around 7-8 hours. Most of the domestic airlines fly to Pokhara from Kathmandu every day. 

The starting point of your trek is after a 1-hour drive from Pokhara, crossing the suspension bridge over the Modi Khola river and you will continue trek slowly passing through terraced fields and villages with stunning views of Machhapuchare and Annapurna Peaks and continue your journey to Tikhedhunga.

After Tikhedunga, you will pass through villages and the Rhododendron forest after walking for a while you will get to Ghorepani. After night spending at Ghorepani, you must walk uphill to the viewpoint to see the first light of sunrise illuminates in Tukuche Peak and Dhaulagiri Peak.

The best time to trek in Ghorepani Poon Hill is from September to early December and from January to May. In this time of year, the climate is warm, the sky remains clear and the wind flow remains comparatively slower than other months.

Since the trek is an easy one at fairly low altitudes, winter trekking is also possible. It is a good option for those who wish to enjoy the best mountain views with extra snowfall. Monsoon trekking is possible but not recommended. Monsoon is the offseason for trekking and good reason.
